Small Grants Program

“It’s about: community, generosity, responsiveness, respect, support, legacy, impact, diversity, leadership, strength, sustainability”

The Vancouver Foundation Community Report

The Neighbourhood Small Grants Program is a community-building initiative presented by the South Burnaby Neighbourhood House and generously supported by the Vancouver Foundation. It is intended to support projects that will improve neighbourhoods socially, physically or culturally. The Neighbourhood Small Grants Program also helps individuals to develop leadership skills and gain community pride, build awareness of community organizations, and catch residents’ attention in a new and exciting way. Neighbourhood enhancing projects may receive grants up to $500.

In 2011, 53 projects received grants in South Burnaby and North Burnaby. From April 1st to October 31, 2011, 47 projects have been completed .  The projects included gardening projects, block parties, educational workshops, crafts learning groups, Halloween parties, community clean -ups, etc.

It is a wonderful opportunity for neighbours to get together, plan and organize events in their neighbourhoods, while developing a sense of community connections and pride.
