“It’s about: community, generosity, responsiveness, respect, support, legacy, impact, diversity, leadership, strength, sustainability”
The Vancouver Foundation 2006 Community Report
The Neighbourhood Small Grants Program is a community-building initiative presented by the South Burnaby Neighbourhood House and generously supported by the Vancouver Foundation. It is intended to support projects that will improve neighbourhoods socially, physically or culturally. The Neighbourhood Small Grants Program also helps individuals to develop leadership skills and gain community pride, build awareness of community organizations, and catch residents attention in a new and exciting way.
Last year thirty one South Burnaby neighbourhood enhancing projects received grants of up to $500. Projects such as a Community Bike Fair, Canada Day Celebration, Car Model Workshops, Single Parents Community Kitchen, Multicultural Luncheon, Environmental Gardening, Women's Educational Workshops, Tai Chi Sessions, dozens of community picnics and other events, took place from April 01 till October 31, 2009.
