Sharing Cultures
Nights
Monthly nights are organized by a committee of local residents at various locations throughout South Burnaby. Each night features a cultural theme and is a great place to relax, and meet your neighbours. Cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children. Reservations required. Call Branka for tickets (604) 431-0400.

Small Grants Program
South Burnaby Neighbourhood House and Vancouver Foundation offer grants of up to $500 to projects organized by residents of South Burnaby that will improve local neighbourhoods. It is a wonderful opportunity for neighbours to get together, plan and organize events in their neighbourhood, while developing a sense of community connections and pride. Applications are due in February and projects take place from April 1st to the end of October. The 2008 Celebration is planned for November. For more information contact Branka at (604) 431-0400.

Kingsway Imperial Neighbourhood Association
KINA is a community initiative supported by the South Burnaby Neighbourhood House. KINA is made up of a small hardworking group of residents, business and students representatives, working on behalf of all members of the Kingsway Imperial Community. Their mission is "to strengthen our neighbourhood to make it a better place to live, work and attend school".  New members are always welcome. Learn more on KINA website.

Empty Bowls Project
We are partners in Burnaby's Empty Bowls Project. This is an event sponsored by the Burnaby Food First committee and held every second year. It involves several community agencies, artists, and restaurants. It raises funds for hungry children and families in Burnaby. A gala event is hosted where attendees receive a handmade bowl and sample a variety of foods from different restaurants. Next event is scheduled for 2009.
